Freeze-Frame®, developed by the
Institute of HeartMath (IHM), is a research-proven
stress management technique that enables individuals to intervene in the moment
of stress, leading to increased cognitive performance and increased test scores
in mathematics. With practice, this tool
can be used effectively in less than one minute during a test.
The practical emotional management tools used in this course help
students neutralize and transform negative or reactive emotions, restoring
emotional stability. The intended benefit of these techniques is to counteract
or altogether prevent destructive psychological and physiological responses to
stress and to promote a wider range of proactive responses in stressful
situations such as math anxiety and test anxiety. We emphasize that with practice, this tool
can be used effectively during a test in less than one minute.
